Meet the Team

Owner & Chiropractor

Dr. John Van Dam, D.C.

Dr. John Van Dam is the owner and chiropractor at Bandera Chiropractic, where he is committed to helping individuals and families move better, feel better, and live healthier lives.

Originally from St. Petersburg, Dr. Van Dam served 10 years on active duty in the United States Air Force as a medic, including time in Texas and an assignment in San Antonio. After experiencing the Texas Hill Country, he knew it was a place and community he wanted to return to and serve.

His military experience includes work in emergency medicine, intensive care, general surgery, and family medicine, with assignments across the U.S. and internationally, including Germany. This background built a strong clinical foundation and continues to shape his hands-on, patient-focused approach to care.

Dr. Van Dam earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from National University of Health Sciences. He further advanced his training during a clinical rotation with the Bay Pines Veterans Affairs Healthcare System, where he worked closely with veterans to restore mobility, reduce pain, and improve overall function.

In practice, Dr. Van Dam focuses on personalized care tailored to each patient. He utilizes a range of techniques, including diversified adjustments, flexion-distraction, drop-table methods, myofascial release, and instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM). He is also Webster Technique certified through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.

Dr. Van Dam enjoys caring for families, active individuals, and those looking to stay mobile and engaged in the activities they love, with a focus on improving function, independence, and quality of life.

Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their three children, volunteering with youth soccer, and staying actively involved in the local community.

Chiropractic Assistant

Ester Serrano

Originally from Boerne, Texas, Ester relocated to Pipe Creek several years ago and later attended Pima Medical Institute, where she earned her NRCMA certification. She began her career as an intern with the Gratias, the previous owners of the practice, and has continued to grow professionally within the office ever since.

Ester is a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Assistant with experience in patient care, administrative support, and therapeutic in-office procedures. She is dedicated to providing high-quality care while creating a positive, supportive experience for every patient who walks through the door. Outside of work, Ester enjoys missionary work through her church, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Patient Care Coordinator

Sandi Poole

Sandi Poole serves as the friendly face at the front desk of Bandera Chiropractic. She enjoys getting to know patients and helping them feel welcomed and cared for from the moment they walk through the door. Sandi is passionate about serving others and is always looking for opportunities to learn, grow, and support the patients and community she serves.

Outside the office, Sandi enjoys volunteering, spending time with her church community and family, crocheting, and attending concerts. She also spent part of her younger years living in Germany and is bilingual in German, a skill that still comes in handy from time to time.
